| The Purple and Gold Radio Show |
| Aaron "Big Air" Givens was born and raised in sunny Southern California. Growing up in Carson, he has been a faithful fan of the Lakers since his first visit to the Fabulous Forum on Gail Goodrich autograph ball night. "Nobody is a bigger fan of the purple and gold than I am, period!," he exclaims. He has nothing but great memories of going to the games and cheering on his favorite Lakers players like Magic, Kareem, Jamaal Wilkes, James Worthy, B-Scott, Bob McAdoo.. and the list goes on. He has even had a chance to speak with Chick and Stu while at a game at the Forum. "I was maybe 10 or 11 and I ask Chick to give an example of how he would call the game and he did. Chick was really cool. I still miss him to this day." While still residing in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, Big Air still maintains his child-like passion for the purple and gold. "When I was younger, I would cry when we lost big games. I mean snot-runnin', can't breath type ballin'. And now, I still have to fight back the tears. I've at least controlled the snot-runnin' though." Each game day, Big Air sports his purple and gold colors to show his support of the team, and he encourages all fans to do the same. "All true fans should wear a t-shirt, hat, shoes or something on game day to show all the nation that we love our team as much, if not more, than any other fan!!" Marlon " Wizzkidd" Butler was also born and raised in Los Angeles. "Da Wizz" has been a die hard Laker fan for over 25 years now. While he was growing up he would keep stats and follow along with the game. No internet back then. He would also tape and record anything Lakers. "I remember skippping school to go to Laker parades. I would keep and collect anything Lakers. Sports pages, basketball cards bs posters " The '80s Showtime Era was the best. The Forum, the fans, the Coop a loop, the atmosphere and the pure energy and the excitement was intense. |
